The rate of a person’s hair growth is dependant on two main factors: hormone levels and heredity. A minor factor causing hair growth can be the side effect of a drug being used to help heal the body or mind. Electrolysis is a great option for removing unwanted hair from areas of the body (bikini line, eyebrows, upper lip).
Electrolysis is a body treatment that removes unwanted hair from desired parts of the body. Electrolysis can be used to target specific areas rather than the whole body. The procedure works by destroying hair growth centers by using chemicals or heat energy. Fine probes are inserted into hair follicles, and then the hair is removed with a tweezer.
Electrolysis treatments require multiple visits because of the many influences affecting hair growth. The total number of sessions does depend on the varying conditions of different people. For most, they come for treatments at minimum once a week or bi-monthly. A session will last from fifteen minutes to an hour (depending on the size of the area hair is growing on). Once a successful number of visits have been completed, hair will be gone forever.
For whatever reasons, people think that electrolysis is painful, but that is not entirely true. Most modern methods of electrolysis do not cause much pain, although it can lead to discomfort. For those that have overly sensitive skin, doctors can give a topical anesthetic that will make the process less painful.
Many use electric tweezers hoping to get the same result as electrolysis. That is not true. The AMA (American Medical Association) and FDA only recognize one procedure as a permeant hair removal method: electrolysis.
